I would like to give you a few tips for successfully learning a language. The goals, reasons, and learning strategies are different for everyone, but I think there are a few things that all have in common.
The three most important points:
3. Having Fun

Motivation is the # 1 for everything you do in life. Ask yourself:
Why do you want to learn a language? What are your goals and dreams?
What are the benefits from learning something? Maybe you found the love of your life in Colombia and now you want to learn Spanish to be able to communicate with him. Or you seek a promotion and need a new ability. Or maybe you are passionate about Salsa and want to learn Spanish so that you can understand the songs :)
Whatever the case, make sure you stay motivated!
Set a goal in a reasonable amount of time. And stick to it!
Don't give up, even if it's a bit difficult. Always remember why you chose to do something and don't forget your goals and dreams!
Sometimes it's difficult to do what you set out to do. This is why # 1 is so important: If we have motivation, it's easier to do something with commitment and consistency. And always think about how amazing it will feel when you achieve your goal!
Set yourself SMART goals:
For example: I want to learn basic communication in one month to prepare for my Latin America trip. Or I would like 2 hours of Spanish tutoring every week, so that I have no difficulties at the university.
Don't forget to have fun!
We don't learn anything if it's only forced and you "have to". Rather say "I choose to" and find fun and entertaining ways to learn. Find the right teacher, mentor, coach to get the appropiate lessons for you.
Not everyone likes the same things. Perhaps you are more musical and love to use songs in language classes. Or maybe you like writing and want to write many stories! Let your teacher know what you like.
If you have fun, your teacher will have fun too! :)
